Eastleigh-based metalworker and jewellery maker Rosie Wesley has been displaying some of her work at the Goldsmith’s Centre in Clerkenwell, London as part of the renowned jewellery-making institute’s Shine 2017 exhibition.
The exhibition, which started on 6 November and runs until 20 December, is a showcase of up-and-coming jewellery and silversmithing talent, featuring some of the best new jewellery designers and brands from across the country.
Rosie, who recently moved to her new studio at The Sorting Office in Eastleigh town centre, had her work accepted for the exhibition after signing up to take part in a business course for jewellers and silversmiths run by the centre.
She has sent two of her tree bark sculptures off to the Goldsmiths’ Centre, one made of bronze and silver, the other solely from silver. One of these pieces will be chosen to be displayed alongside works from 30 other exhibitors.
Speaking about the opportunity to exhibit at Shine, Rosie said:
“It’s crazy – I applied for the exhibition on the off chance, and never imagined I’d actually be selected to show my work.
“The list of exhibitors is amazing; it’s filled with people who are pushing the boundaries of the craft, many of whom I’ve looked up to in developing my own work
Shine 2017 is free to enter and takes place from the 6 November to 20 December, opening Monday – Friday from 9am – 6pm at the Goldsmith’s Centre in Clerkenwell, London.
